It focuses more on design principles used by algorithms rather than the algorithms themselves. His research focuses on issues at the interface of networks and information, with an emphasis on the social and information networks that underpin the Web and other on-line media.

Beware there is no code in this book only higher level pseudo code so if you want specific examples with code you are better off Google-ing or looking for another book. I should also point out that there are several well-crafted exercises in each chapter to cement your understanding and give your grey matter a kleinnberg workout! CLRS is a great book to pick up, flip to the index, find the thing you’re curious about, and joon the re It’s an Algorithms book.

The printing on some pages is very crooked. Focuses on intuitive explanations instead of rigorous esoteric formal language. Discussion is grounded in concrete problems and examples rather than abstract presentation of principles, with representative problems woven throughout the text.
The biggest issue is that the ev assume a high degree of “obviousness” in problems. With the well written text, great examples, and good exercises, this book was fantastic.
Otherwise a good book.

As with any kind of math, if you want to go much deeper, you’ll need algoritym textbooks for particular topics, but for a reasonably complete, holistic, one-semester course, you’ll love this book. Some of these imperfections are incidental in nature, and I don’t know whether my copy is one of the better ones or one of the worse ones. Amazon Drive Cloud storage from Amazon. I was sorely tempted to give it a one-star review, but the content is top-notch, brilliantly put-together and an asset to any student of Computer Science. This works well within the confines of the book because the argument is that the greedy algorithm “stays ahead” of the optimal solution, but I can easily imagine a student using that terminology getting confused looks from peers who learned with other books.
