Liz rated it it was amazing Mar 14, There she puts her plan in action. The others grab Ax away as Marco and Rachel try to convince Tidwell that Ax is just sick and they need to take him home. Tidwell reveals he shares control of his body with Illima Yeerk, and that he is a member of the Yeerk Peace Movement.
It was pretty cool driving by myself. One oddity is that, Ax gets sick, hence the title, and they bring in Erek the Chee to help.
But now Cassie has another challenge: How did they save Afran? It is narrated by Jake. She’s kind of the kill joy at times. The deal was that Aftran was to never take another host.
Editing this review later to point out, because I forgot to mention it, how much I loved Cassie comforting Ax during his sickness, with an almost maternal air. Her ingenuity shines here and I love thr love the way the group solved the problem with Aftran. Aftran, the Yeerk that knows about the Animorphs and is Cassie’s friend see book 19 is up for interrogation by the Visser.
animofphs It’s also a great character piece, showing that Cassie can be a brilliantly strong character when not just used for self-righteous ranting.
With the distraction successful, Tom heads up to the cabin with the rest of the family. All things we never thought we would see because they’re monsters right?

Yep it was super over the top. When they leave for a Sharing meeting together, Jake fears that Tom may force their dad into involuntary Yeerk infestation or even kill him.
And of course, we have to highlight the peace movement in this book so her incredibly selfish decision to risk her friends’ lives and the safety of the world for her own arbitrary moral code can be retroactively justified. All is well again, and we learn that there is a whole movement of peaceful Yeerks who want a revolution. She had done what few have the strength to do.
